Vale la pena.
I'm currently doing Spanish Lessons in Peru and my favorite sentence I've learned so far is "vale la pena" - it's worth it at the end.
Deciding not to go to university straight after school like all of my friends and choosing a different path was a quite difficult decision to make. But after travelling for four months the only thing I can think of is that it "vale la pena". Leaving a tiny island and going on my own was sometimes quite scary but to be honest I was never alone. The amount of friends I've made from around the world. From a 19 year old Bulgarian girl I met in my hostel in Peru to a 76 year old man I met in a museum in Cannes. Everything was totally worth it!
Waking up at 4am to catch the metro, to catch a bus, to catch a plane to finally have to walk 5km up hill to get to my hostel in Bilbao in 35º, but getting up there and meeting the most fun people and discovering one of my new all time favorite places- totally worth it!
Peru has been the most challenging part of my travel yet and I've only been here for a week. Between the altitude sickness, the 10 hour time difference with all my friends and family, the 3º when I wake up every morning, the car sicknesses and last but not least the amount of walking whilst struggling to breathe because of the altitude. But every time I get to the top of each ruin I can only think to myself VALE LA PENA.
I will remember that saying! Thanks for sharing your story and your pictures. And keep exploring.
