The perfect 48 hours in Paris
After spending a month in Paris I got to know the city quite well. Paris can be an amazing place if you go to the right places. So here is my perfect 48 hours in Paris as someone who loves art and walking!
Start your morning with a Pain au chocolat or croissant: my favorite is definitely the one from Mamiche, super flaky and soft and buttery. Then take your viennoiserie and walk a couple of blocs to the sacrée coeur. There, just enjoy the beautiful view.
Continue your adventure by walking around the Montmartre quartier. Next, take the metro and go to the pont des arts. From there just take a walk along the quai and take a look at all the bouquinistes. Use this moment to buy a couple of vintage books and posters, they have the best stuff!
Walk up to Notre-Dame, there just take in the beautiful view. If you're hungry you can walk to the rue de la Huchette, over there just sit down in a little brasserie and have some onion soup (my favorite). Then head to Odette to have a chou a la creme, you can eat your chou in a little garden across from the shop.
Once you've digested head over to Shakespeare&Co, don't get scared by the queue outside it's totally worth it. You'll see the most amazing collection of books in a super cute and cozy shop. Don't forget to grab a tote bag before you leave! Once you're in the shop be sure to climb the stairs and take a look at their non-selling book collection, grab one and take a seat on the sofa and enjoy your book. If you're lucky enough someone will be playing the piano too. Once you're done, you can go down to their coffee shop and have a nice cappuccino and a piece of tarte aux fraises.
Next, catch the metro or a trotinnette to the Eiffel Tower for sunset. Grab some saucisson and cheese and just sit down next to the Trocadero and enjoy the view.
For dinner, head to the quartier Mouffetard. There, you'll find everything you've ever dreamed of: fondue, kebabs, sushi, ... Then, you can just walk around the quartier latin: the Pantheon is absolutely stunning at night. If you feel like partying you can go to a bar at the Grand Boulevard or to one of the night clubs on the Peniche. Or if you feel like a more chilled out night you can go and see a Piece de Theatre at the St Georges Theatre, the tickets are usually around 15$ and are totally worth it. I went to see Sherlock Holmes with a friend and it was very good!
For your second day, wake up very early and go up the Eiffel Tower , once you're up there enjoy a hot chocolate and a croissant at the cafe. Next, head to the Louvre, once you've taken your pictures of the Mona Lisa head over to 59 Rue Rivoli, my personal favorite "museum". It was created in the 80s by a bunch of squatters and since then artists come and go. You can also do some shopping in Rue Rivoli.
Next, head to the Jardin du Luxembourg and just enjoy the beautiful garden, don't miss the fountain! You can grab a crepe au nutella and walk around.
Then, the quartier latin has the most amazing cinemas so if you're like me and you love old French cinema then this is heaven on earth. My personal favorites were: L'Epee de Bois and the Cine-Sorbonne. There are plenty of different genres so everyone will find something they like.
In the afternoon if you still feel like seeing yet another museum (hope you do), le Musee D'Orsay is a must see and if you're less than 26 and European it's free! It has the most amazing collection of all types of arts: from Van Gogh, to Monet, sculptures, paintings and even a cinema room. The Centre Pompidou is also beautiful museum, but that's for your next trip!
For sunset you've got two options: either have an apero at the Tuileries or at Les Invalides. Then for dinner if you're feeling fancy you can eat in a restaurant at the Champ Elysees.
Last but not least, buy a ticket for a bateau mouche and enjoy the beautiful night on the Seine and watch the Eiffel Tower light up.
+ if you enjoy painting and drawing: I attended a live model art class at the Atelier Bastille. Usually they don't accept one time classes but just contact the guy and he'll be super nice and accept you!
